Hustle

Hustle

the rush the bustle
all that hustle
move, keep moving
don't stop
don't slow
move. Move. MOVE.

Don't stand here
amongst the crowd
blurred faces passing you
a stream and a river
of top hats and longs coats
of blue eyes and dark faces.

Don't slow US down
as we hurry and be productive
as we forget the meaning of leisure,
of relaxing and unwinding.
Don't slow us down
because you need to stand still.

Keep busy.
Do work.
Go from dance to self-defense
from yoga to your nine-to-five job
from soccer to the sports bar
from the bar to the club
from your friend's home to the movies.
Keep moving.

Lose breath and you lose.
If you can't do it,
you're too slow
too weak
too incompetent.
You body is limp with inability
a flimsy piece of paper
that can't support a dream.

So keep moving.
Be busy and hustle
follow all that bustle.

Calling an Audible for Autumn's End

December starts a new schedule for the Life In Fiction crew and all of you. Each Monday, Alex will post a piece or something of relative relavance. (Yes, I'm aware I just referred to myself in the first person. I like it that way.)
As always, this week I'm bringing forth a piece to show you the how reality is fictitious. In fact, the girl at the center of this piece--who was responsible for last week's post--is a friend of mine who has no clue these pieces exist. Let's see if she notices this time.

"Sweetly Sarah"

You sit next to me. We've been here many times before. Voices whisper as images flash upon the screen. A singular glance puts you at the center of my thoughts.

Actors on the screen tell us how life's supposed to be. We both know things could never be so perfect. Perfection can never be reached. Although, you constantly trick my mind into seeing it as your denotation.

Good men turn to monsters upon love's injection. Yet, you glance back with a smile upon your face. The connotation of it all sends a shiver down my spine. Soon you turn back, but the pseudo-sanctuary of the cinema lacks interest in my eyes. Your wonderful smile appears more entrancing.

Curled around the cup-holder, your saintly fingers beckon for my touch. I shan't--I can't--give in. An explosion of emotion on the screen reminds me of the bomb trapped in my heart. Horrid as I am, giving it away would surely mean destruction. Holding it in means suicide, but my death lacks the detestable twist of your demise.

Life on the screen fades to gray. Tears fill your eyes, almost infecting mine. Chances are you won't stay at my side. No, real life is never so grand. Our night ends with the movie. My day ends with your final smile my way. Afterwards, the clouds come and dreams test my sorry eyes. Yes, I've been here many times before. Still, I come back; for every tragic end is worth the pain.

My life shall never become fiction; for it is only fiction.

Let the waters flow over me. Calm my soul.

Hey everyone, today's Friday. Of course it means a visit from your optimistic friend Alex Arlington, right? Always.

This week, I did a free write from the tip of my tongue, top of my head, and bottom of my heart. Hopefully you read it and get where I'm coming from.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Another Sarah"

Look over the cliff of existence, she stands below--so far below. Sense the grief in my words as I spill my heart on top of her. She looks up to me, but looking down is all I seem to ever do. Understanding isn't her trait to hold. No, judgements cross her lips more often.

The skies stain scarlet, my eyes turned gray with the lack of sleep. If she's not the one, her face says differently. That smile...those eyes...they keep me awake at night, pacing and turning like a dancer caught in a loop. Bewitched as I must be--judgemental as she has become--still I stand upon this cliff, ready to jump. Jumping into another line of thought would prove fairer, but the beating of my heart contradicts reason. It contradicts life itself. Thump wump. Thump wump. It beats so hard when I'm around her, yet she cannot hear because she's stuck below.

I'm gazing at what I'll never have. Let it be my last sight! These eyes are tired and delusional, cut by the knife that shapes time with morbid thoughts. I could be ended right now with the smile on my face. Love isn't actualization but knowledge that I could do no better. I'm ready to dive, dive into her. She stands so far below, but all I wish is to be on her level--stand by her side.

Carpe diem et provehito in altum

Jesters vs. Bards

Everything in Life Speaks, But Few Take the Time to Hear.
Loki rolled over on his knees, cursing at everything with a name. Yin stared blankly at the setting sun. Loki steadily rose up to meet Yin’s blank glare.
“You could have told me you were psychic snowflake.”Loki mumbled.
“Then I would be a liar like you Loki.” Yin responded calmly.
“Smartass,” Loki said while attempting to attack from the side, “Block this!”
Yin gently moved his hand horizontally through the air in Loki’s direction without looking at him. A Halberd formed in mid-air, blocking the incoming strike from Loki’s weapon. Loki frowned and teleported behind Yin, only to be met by a spear. Loki flipped backwards to survey his opponent. However, all three ofYin’s weapons began to float in midair and homed in on Loki. Loki leaped over the weapons and landed back in his original spot, but Yin was there to greet him with the blade of his glaive. Yin connected with the weapon piercing deep into Loki’s gut. Yin pulled out and back flipped for about twenty feet. Loki wheezed in pain and confusion.
“What’s your name brat?” Loki asked with a serious tone.
“Yin Yotto, Captain-General of the Aero Army and brother to King Yang Yotto, the most powerful air wizard in all the land.” Yin replied.
“That twin brat of yours is your brother eh? How did someone like him beat you for the King’s spot?” Loki laughed. “Why is it that I cannot hurt you? What’s your powers magician?”
“I’m no magician peasant. I’m a Summoner.” Yin said with rage.
“What kind of Summoner summons weaponry to a battle?” Loki erupted into an insane laughter.
“My polearms are not just weaponry. They are holy weapons blessed by the gods themselves peasant. Each possesses a soul of their own, which come to my aid at my times of need.”
“You know what General…” Loki said with a big frown on his face.
Loki teleported behind Yin once more, who stacked a naginata, gisarme, and poleax on top of one another to bar his path. Loki stopped in his spot, and with green markings on his arm, held his free hand up and created a whirling storm of snow and ice around Yin. Five seconds later, Yin fell to the ground shivering.
“I hate it when people call me a peasant. ME! LOKI!!! THE GOD OF MISCHIEF! You all were made to be ruled by ME!”
Loki motioned to deal the finishing blow, but was sent flying back by a sudden gust of wind. The perpetrator of the attack was Yang, who was standing with his hand out in a fist. Loki flipped upwards and dashed at his new opponent with wild eyes. Loki sent a gust of freezing air at Yang, who blew it away with a flick of his wrist. Loki threw a strong right hook at Yang, who blocked it with an open palm. In the area around Yang, everything froze. Yang with his free hand then delivered a strong forward punch to Loki’s ribcage, sending him flying in a swirl of wind that ripped his armor offf. Loki bounced for an extra twenty feet before coming to a stop. Yang stared down his opponent, who instantly disappeared. Yang was not fooled however, and turned ninety degrees to deliver another open handed punch that caught Loki defenseless and sent him soaring once more. Loki flipped over once more in rage, his blue skin steadily changing to the pink pigmentation of his brother Balder. Yang did not speak, just waited patiently.
“I see…” Loki said attempting to clam down,“That’s the difference between you two. Yin’s power cames from his calm feel for the life around him. But yours comes from calm, but focused rage. You can channel your rage properly, that must be what Feng Po saw in you lad…”
Yang’s eyes sharpened at the mention of his father’s name. Loki caught wind of this and grinned.
“However my lad, you aren’t the only one who can focus better in rage. Now allow me to say…” Loki said with a serious, straight look, “Let the world… drop.”
At that moment, the ground underneath seemed to shift downward, causing Yang to fly up into the air, the gravity all but gone. In a flash of light, Yang dropped to the ground with multiple minor cuts across his body. Loki stood a few feet away licking a dagger clean of blood.
“You know…” The voice of Tao Kai said, scaring Loki, “You should always stand straight.”
Loki turned around looking for the source of the voice, before his feet were taken from under him by his own shadow. Loki landed flat on his butt, and his shadow slowly pushed itself up from the ground to stand on it’s own in the sun. Loki examined the sight, before rolling to his left, barely dodging a quick strike from Marissa. Hopping onto his feet, vines began to wrap around Loki’s legs, restricting his movements. Attempting to break free, Loki could see Hammi sprinting at him at full speed. At seven o’ clock his shadow was homing in and at five o’ clock Marissa was charging at him with Atlantian tech mages. Loki’s skin changed to emerald green and a giant green snake rose from the ground and wrapped itself around Loki, teleporting him out of the way. Loki’s shadow and Marissa jumped to the sky, as Hammi punched into the ground, creating a huge fissure in the ground around 6,000 feet deep. The Shadow and Marissa landed deep in the newly created canyon, where Hammi sat peacefully waiting.
“I don’t think we were asked to remodel the planet Hammi.” The shadow said, revealing itself to be Tao Kai.
“We were asked to rid the world of the menace known as Loki Odinsson. I put enough strength into that attack to deal a killing blow to him.” Hammi replied.
“Even with Loki’s power I doubt he could have pulled this off.” Marissa said surveying the area.
“Not with his own physical strength. It’s strange though,” Tao Kai started, “I never thought King Yang could hold his own against Loki’s magical powers….”
“The twins both proved rather effective against Loki because they stuck to what they did best. In that lays Loki’s weakness my friends.” Balder said suddenly behind them.
Balder looked up to the sky, watching Loki create branches on the inside of the canyon and swinging from one to the other. Balder’s fists glowed with a yellow light, and released a huge blast of light at twelve o’ clock, catching the emerald snake just as it appeared from the ground. Hammi caught a whiff of the snake, confusion rushing across his face.
“Mistletoe?” Hammi said, catching the attention of Balder.
“Where?” Balder replied.
Before he could get his answer, the emerald snake caught Balder in his jaw while his back was turned, delivering a fatal bite into his chest and back. Loki screamed in joy as he witnessed the event, calling for the snake.
“Fantastic Jörmungandr! Return to me my pet, we ride from here!”
The snake spat Balder to the ground and flew up to Loki. The Jörmungandr shifted into a blade, placing itself into Loki’s sheathe. Loki turned to leave, but Yang and Yin stood in his path. Loki sighed, and dashed forward to clash with his opponents.
Hammi and Marissa worked diligently to heal Balder, but to no avail. Tao Kai paced uselessly around them, wondering what was happening.
“Why aren’t your powers working? I thought your medicine was the best in the land!” Tao Kai yelled at Hammi.
“All of my medicine comes from plants, and they all took the oath not to harm Balder…”
“Your job is to heal him!”
“Medicine are technically beneficial viruses, they are ‘harming’ the lethal agents in one’s body.” Marissa said hopelessly.
“I thought you had an oath from all living things not to harm you!” Tao Kai directed towards Balder.
“All but… Mistletoe… Listen…” Balder said, but was interrupted by Yin and Yang crashing into the ground a few feet away from them. Tao Kai pulled them by their shadows over to Balder who began to speak again.“Tao Kai, head of the oldest family of Shadowmancers on the planet. Marissa Rhoden, daughter of King Atlas and Princess of the City of Atlantis. Yin Yotto, The legendary ‘Blind Tiger’ and weapons master. Hammi, a pujaris of the Aadhi Jeganadha Temple and healer of across the lands. King Yang Yotto, heir to the Kingdom in the Sky. You all were chosen because you possess the ability to do what no one else can do.”
“Forgive me my Sworn Brother, but Yin and I couldn’t outmatch Loki at his own game together. How could we possibly win?”Yang spoke.
“Tao Kai, your powers encompass the fact that when you take over someone’s shadow, you can control their powers correct?”Balder asked.
“Yes. But Loki was different… I couldn’t use his super-strength, or his magic for that matter.”
“That’s because his power is a false one. Loki’s strength is that his powers are a combination of multiple smaller ones that he took from his victims. Nevertheless, he cannot out power a master at their own skill.”
“A jack of all trades…” Marissa jumped in.
“More like king, who can only be beat by an ace… Marissa, you possess the ability to naturally call forth the element powering your technology. Hammi, there isn’t a stronger person on this planet and no one that the plants trust more. Yin, the Voice of Life speaks loud to you. Yang, your magic is more powerful then your father’s ever was. Tao Kai, your control over the shadows creates limitless possibilities. You all cannot be beaten at your best, so combine that, and there you shall overcome Loki.”
The warriors stood in silence, then met eye contact with each other. Two miles away, Loki was skipping across the desert, laughing at his brother’s death. Loki stopped in place and quickly tossed Jörmungandr high into the sky. Loki sidestepped just in time to dodge another blast of wind from Yang. Loki twirled in place then faced Yang, who had Tao Kai, Hammi, Yin, and Marissa standing behind him. Loki sighed.
“You guys again? Haven’t I kicked your asses enough today?” Loki said sadly.
The warriors didn’t speak, just surrounded Loki so there was no escape. Loki chuckled, and teleported in front of Tao Kai.
“You may be the most well balanced warrior here, but you can never go hand-to-hand with me.” Loki said while throwing a cross hook, but Tao Kai caught it and wrapped Loki up in a bear-hug.
“Too bad I am not Lord Tao Kai.” Hammi said, shadows dissolving to reveal him to be a fake.
Hammi’s clone was shown to be Tao Kai in disguise. Loki’s face had a stern look, while he struggled to free himself. Yin created six spears made of jade, garnet, sapphire, diamond, topaz, and ruby. Riding the air shaft created by his brother, Yin flew high into the air, and threw each of his six spears at a different angle towards Loki. In the brief second before the first spear landed, Hammi rolled out of the way and began to incite a prayer. The spears pinned Loki in his spot. Loki prepared to incite a prayer of his own, but before he knew it, a summoning circle formed at his feet and a geyser of water erupted from underneath him, drowning him in water while locking him in place. Marissa was concentrating fiercely behind Hammi.
“Hammi! This should strengthen your plants enough so that you can grow stronger plants!” Marissa said through strained breaths.
“Stronger won’t be enough, we need the strongest.” Hammi replied. “Oh mighty Teak, grant me a wooden prison that not even the mighty Loki can break.”
Hammi continued to pray, and slowly the branches of a Teak tree wrapped around Loki’s entire body. Hammi gave a timid nod towards Yang. Yang snapped his fingers, and spun his waist at a rapidly increasing speed. The sand around Loki began to twist and spin around him, until it erupted into a mini tornado of sand around Loki. Lastly, Tao Kai snapped his fingers, and the shadow of Balder left his master and came to Tao Kai’s aid. Their hands met, creating a ball of energy mixed of light and darkness, and together shot the ball of twilight at Loki’s elemental prison. The blast caused the prison to disintegrate. Once the smoke cleared, Loki laid on the sand, the size of a normal human being now, bleeding profusely and unable to move. The five warriors and the shadow of Balder formed a hexagon around Loki. Loki laughed.
“You may beat me today, but I shall return one day, just you wait.” He said.
The outline of a hexagon formed between the warriors, who each began to pray.
“I see…” Loki spoke, “The Elemental Lock… I see where you’re getting wind, water, grass, and metal from… but how will you produce ice and fire?”
Yin formed a steel bo staff which he held towards the sky, Yang created a miniature tornado in his hands and did the same. Marissa had a whirlpool of water floating on top of her, and Hammi was covered in the branches of the cherry blossom tree. Balder’s shadow used the power of his light to shine brightly on himself, causing it to burst into flames, and Tao Kai sliced off his hand and covered it in his cloak. When he removed the cloak, his hand was frozen solid. Loki chuckled.
“Jörmungandr, remember my final words!” Loki screamed.
The ground underneath gave way to an alternate universe, where the sky was green and the sand white. Loki fell into the world, and the warriors cut the connection, jumping back off the seal as it took their sacrifices. The portal closed, and the seal transformed into a gradient hexagon blue and scarlet ruby. In the distance, Balder was propped against the canyon, a smile on his face as the life in his eyes had disappeared. The warriors all dropped to the ground, grasping for air. A few hundred feet away from them, Loki’s sword was glowing with a shadowy light.
“With Loki’s last words, I prey on the depths of twilight…” Jörmungandr spoke. “With the underworld singing for an earthly unite. When all things seem bright in the darkest of night… We shall be there, under Hades might!”
A large pillar of black rose to the sky, catching the eye of the warriors. From the pillar walked out a skeleton dressed in furry black robes, blue flames for hair, a golden crowd covered in sapphire gems and Jörmungandr in his right hand. Raising the blade to the sky, multiple shadows littered the sky, all of them laughing. The skeleton turned and repeated Loki’s last words in a ghostly voice.
“Let There Be Jesters.”

Late Post Worthy

The winds roared as Loki, the God of Mischief, dashed through the land. In his wake, destruction and death laid. A grin full of malice crossed his pale face, his eyes red, and his heart cold like the winter air. He was clad in green armor, and a dual horn helmet that covered all but his eyes and mouth. Loki was remarkably skinny, but was a towering 9 feet and was deceptively strong. Loki’s skin was blue in color, and the air around him chill underneath the blazing sun. He came upon a desert in the western lands, where he climbed aboard a boulder. Loki stared off towards the distance, watching the sun set over the red sand of the desert he found himself in. He stood on top of the edge of the rock he sat on, patiently waiting for his brother, Balder, to show with his band of warriors. The warriors Balder had gathered to kill him. Loki fell on his back, getting more bored with each passing moment. He stared at the sky, watching as crows flew overhead. Loki pointed a finger at one, causing it to spontaneously combust in midair. This amused Loki, so he did the same to another, and another, until his grin turned into crazed laughter. After his targets were gone, Loki rose in angry.
“What is taking my brother so long?” Loki pondered to himself. “I chose to be out here just so it would be easier for him to find me! I’m bored brother!!!! Come out and play already!!”
Loki jumped to his feet, scanning the area for more prey. He rests arm on his trusty blade, Jörmungandr.
“Who do you serve my minion?” Loki said, staring out towards the sun.
“The Great King Loki.” The blade said to Loki.
“Have you soaked in the juice of the mistletoe flower like I asked?”
“Yes my liege…”
“Fantastic my puppet…”
Then something caught Loki’s eye. In the center of the setting sun, Loki saw what he had believed to be a fine blue light. Immediately realizing what it was, Loki cart-wheeled out of the way, barely in time to dodge the blue laser that was shot at him. Loki broke his fall with his hand, spinning in place on the same hand, before sitting Indian style on the ground. Loki dropped his head, chuckling under his breath.
“That beam was Atlantian technology… so who’d you bring Balder? Atlas? Mneseus?”
In the distance Loki caught eye of a four people riding on top of what looked like a giant bird composed of steel lances. In the center where the body of the bird should have been was a white-haired boy, who didn’t look a day over eighteen years of age. His eyes were pearly white and slanted, his body frame skinny like Loki’s but was only a little more then half his size. The boy was clad in a black robe with blue lining and had a white toga going across his chest as well as white trousers that reached to his ankles. On the back sitting on the tail feathers of the bird was a black-haired boy who looked completely identical to the boy inside the bird. The clothing was also the same; however the robe was white, the trousers black, and the toga black. His eyes were red as well. In front of him were three people. On the right was tan skin old man, who was shirtless, wore orange colored shorts and sandals and extremely skinny as if he had starved himself. On the left was a pale old man with long white hair and a goatee. His eyes were gray from age. The reminder of his body was covered in dark clothing and a cloak, all of which that looked as if one was looking at the night sky when they saw them. Lastly Loki saw the initiator of the last attack in the center. It was a blonde-haired girl dressed black armor and a turquoise scarf. The armor was tight fitting to her skinny, curvy body, and had strange, glowing turquoise markings scattered across the armor.
“What’s this?” Loki screamed.“Balder you bitch! Out of all the warriors at your disposal in Atlantis, you chose a whore to come fight me with? How weak… do you think I am!?”
With the end of his last words, Loki gave a mighty roar, which was directed towards the warriors. The resulting shockwave blow the bird apart into individual lances, and the warriors fell towards the earth below. Quickly, the black-haired boy pointed two fingers towards, and starting making a swirling motion. The sand began to swirl as well, until it created a small tornado of sand grains. Each of the five warriors landed softly on the tornado, which slowly dissolved until they were on the ground unharmed. Grasping for air, the black-haired boy yelled at his twin.
“Why didn’t you block that Yin?” he hollered.
“I couldn’t Yang! There was something weird about that shockwave!” Yin replied.
“We landed softly, that is all that mattered.” The girl said. “Besides, we are all at fault here; none of us blocked that strike.”
“I’m sorry I was preoccupied with keeping us afloat Marissa!” Yang grumbled.
“Peace young one.” The tanned man jumped in, wiping himself down, “We must focus on the task at hand. Right Tao Kai-sama?”
“Indeed Hammi.” The pale man said, “We have a job to do. My grandchild must never be asked to deal with such a creature as this.”
“Aw shucks, I’ve become so powerful that you consider me a creature! HAPPY DAY!” Loki said.
The warriors looked behind Yang, where Loki stood smiling at the warriors. Yang attempted to throw a punch at Loki, but he teleported to the center of the group. Loki began to dance in the middle, spinning and flailing his arms randomly. The warriors stared at the giant in confusion, all scared.
“What’s the matter child? Didn’t you come to punish me?” Loki gave a quick slap to his Derrière, inciting an angry expression from Marissa.
“Don’t fall into his mind games my lady,” Hammi said, “Despite his daft nature, there is a method to this madness.”
Loki continued to prance around like a clown, angering Marissa until she snapped. Marissa charged despite the disapproval of her peers. Loki’s back to her, Marissa come up to about a foot away from before creating a mace out of water in thin air. Before she could pull off a full swing, Loki pulled a full 180 and back-hands Marissa straight across the face. This effectively sent her flying across the desert.
“No!” Loki said his hands on his waist. “Bad Bitch!”
Marissa got on her knees, rubbing her head. Hammi sighed, and Yang and Yin rushed in next while Loki’s back was turned. Yin clamped his hands together and opened them to create a lance, while Yang created a miniature tornado in his hands. They both jumped over Loki, but he teleported out of the way, causing them to crash to the ground. The twins jumped to their feet, only for Loki to teleport in front of them, slapping them both multiple times.
“Bad! Bad! Bad! Bad! Bad! Bad!” Loki said repeatedly.
He kept slapping them until his hand stopped moving of its own accord. Loki looked to his left puzzled, and found his arm held in place by a vine. The twins rushed out of the way. Loki glanced over to find Hammi praying, and Tao Kai charging up a ball of black energy in his hands. The vine began to cover his whole body, but Loki frowned in disappointment.
“Really? That’s your power? BORING.” Loki said yawning.
Tao Kai gave a slight gruff, and then shot a blackish-purple beam in Loki’s direction. The beam connected, erupting into a huge pillar of black. In the center of the blast, the area froze over on the inside. The warriors waited in anticipation to see the results of the attack.
“Did you get him?” Yang asked.
In the middle of the chaos, Loki was shaking while drinking a cup of hot tea. Tao Kai stomped his foot in rage.
“Jinx.” Yin said to his brother.
“Damn clown! Fight us for real!” Tao Kai demanded.
Hammi looked at Tao Kai with a worried expression but Loki had a grin cross his face.
“You hear that My puppet?” Loki asked.
“Yes my liege. They seem to desire to be annihilated.” Jörmungandr said.
“Aw poo. I was having a blast!”
Loki threw away his tea cup, and pulled out his sword, and teleported behind Tao Kai. Tao Kai didn’t have the time to react, and Loki proceed to slice his head clean off. In a moment faster then light itself, a brunette man around the size of Loki appear and delivered an open palm punch straight to the gut of Loki. Loki flew across the desert, and the brunette man gave Tao Kai a stern look in the eye.
“I warned you,” The man said, “My brother is easiest to defeat when he is toying with you. Get him serious can prove to be quite fatal.”
“…Forgive me Lord Balder.” Tao Kai said bowing.
Loki rose to his feet unharmed, and transformed his sword into a bow and arrow. Hammi knelt to the ground and began to pray once more. Loki shot his arrow at Balder, who did nothing to move, but the arrow was caught in the trunk of a giant tree that formed in front of him. Loki sighed, before throwing his bow to the ground and stomping on it.
“You should really attempt to dodge young lord.”Hammi said slightly peeved.
“It wouldn’t matter. I have an oath from all things earth-made not to kill me.” Balder replied arrogantly.
“So why was Loki so mad that it didn’t connect?”Tao Kai inquired.
“Loki is the most intelligent, yet insane, fool this world shall ever know.” Balder said.
Loki crossed his arms as his eyes stayed fixed on the tree. However he didn’t have the time to figure out what to do next as a spear zip-lined past his head. Loki took a quick glance at the spear as it stuck into the ground, then just as quickly ducked from the incoming swipe by Yin. Loki somersaulted backwards about twelve feet, before engaging in a stare down with Yin. Yin was armed with a double-sided lance. Loki reached to his horns, removing them from place and causing a blade of energy to form. Loki then hooked them together to get a two-sided blade of energy. Loki tossed it from hand to hand.
“Mine looks lighter.” Loki said queerly, as he circled his foe.
“Good thing I am much stronger.” Yin replied without following his opponents movements.
“I knew it!”
“Knew what Jester?”
“You’re a blind snowflake.”
“I hadn’t noticed. Why don’t you attack and see what happens?”
“But of course. However I must restrain myself from using multiple hands.”
Loki put his right hand behind his back, and then dashed forward, swiping at Yin’s head. Yin side-stepped the attack, then turning a full 180 degrees skated past Loki, his eyes focused on nothing particular. Loki dropped to the ground, a large cut in his armor. Yin swirled his lance in midair, before sticking it into the sand. Yin smiled.
“I think you may need two hands on this one..... 'God of Mischief'.”

Blurred Lines

Blurred eyes see the sun;
The sun doesn't stare back.
Sit and glare.
Stop and wonder.
The answer follows soon after;
No one cares for burning eyes.

Night covers all in darkness.
A rock has replaced the sun.
Blind eyes make nothing of change.
Blind minds make everything worse.
None shall care
For that which sought the truth.
None but the eyes that sought to wonder.

All are content.
No one sees
This world's atrocities.
Blind sure see
The only real truth.
Nothing.

Thanksgiving

As most of you know, today is Thanksgiving Day. I know that by know most of you have probably stuffed your faces full with turkey and potatoes, but I'm here to offer a different meal, one for the brain. Here is poem to fill up your thoughts. Perhaps you'll be thankful for it?

Thankful

I'm thankful for you
and everything you do.
You're my friend,
the best,
absolutely one of kind.

I'm thankful for dreams
and all that they have made me.
I'm thankful for failures
and success
for all that they taught me.

I'm thankful for words
and what they express.
I'm thankful today
for my extra ordinary life,
and the beauty it holds.

~Anora Anakaya~
Happy Thanksgiving. I hope it was wonderful.
